It’s been a little over a year since I launched Marbury, with a desire to create something beyond just myself; something that could support fellow creatives through their entrepreneurial journeys. And while the focus of our studio has always been in branding—visual identities, print, and web—it didn’t take long for me to realize that my true passion lies in helping people on a more personal, holistic level. Not just in growing their businesses, but in nurturing themselves in the process.
While part of me wishes I could go back in time and sit on the idea of Marbury a little longer, I’m not sure I would have landed in the same place without this year of ups and downs under my belt. I’m a firm believer that the best learning experiences come from diving in head first, not from the sidelines, but truth be told, it can be tough to evolve publicly. I’ve been doing it myself for the past ten years and I have definitely had my fair share of missteps. But the way I see it, it’s all part of the growing process. And the truer you are to yourself, the better you’ll be at serving your audience and the more people will resonate with your story.
You’ve likely taken note of our ongoing dialogue around self-care and work-life balance over the past twelve months. Personally, however, I’ve felt a bit stumped on how to take those ideas beyond words and move them into something more tangible. But somewhere along the winding road of this past year, I took some time to get quiet, and that vision became a lot clearer for me. And it’s so clear now that I know I owe it to myself to honor it.
With this knowledge in mind, and with the season of hibernation on the horizon, I’ve decided to take some time to look inward and work towards evolving Marbury into the business that I dream of. Not one that adheres to the path that I’ve been on for the past ten years, but one that speaks to who I’ve become and I where I want to go.
While I’m still some time away from sharing the exact details of what’s ahead, I can say that, at this time, we will be taking an indefinite hiatus from design work. However, you can continue to peruse our archives at www.marbury.studio and you can keep your eye on www.marbury.co for a fresh new look come spring / summer.
Lastly, in true full-circle fashion, I’ve revamped my personal website to continue sharing all of the things that led me to this world a decade ago and that continue to light me up. You’ll also find our Strategy Sessions have moved here; I’ll still be releasing a batch at the beginning of each month, which you can book by visiting the Consulting page.
