Embodied Branding: How Branding Affects The Way You Show Up

Much like the way you feel when wearing a new item, embodied branding draws out your highest self. It calls you forward into a new way of being, doing, and receiving.

Think back to a time when you purchased an expensive article of clothing that you couldn’t pull away from. Chances are, you didn’t need that shirt or pair of earrings, but you bought it because it made you feel something. Wearing it brings you a sense of confidence and contentment that makes the number attached feel inconsequential, even if just for a moment. It empowers the identity you’ve designed for yourself and heightens your daily experience. In other words, you receive a positive return on your investment.

This is how we think of branding. Much like the way you feel when wearing a new item, good branding draws out your highest self. It calls you forward into a new way of being, doing, and receiving. You suddenly feel worthy of raising your rates or pitching to that new supplier. You gain a newfound confidence because you have a brand you’re proud to stand behind. In some ways, your new branding may feel intimidating. You may have to shift your internal processes to align with the promises and appearances of your new brand. A luxury visual identity calls for luxury processes and upgraded services. It forces you, in a good way, to rise to your potential as a founder and creative. It sets you up to reach for great instead of settling for good.

It empowers the identity you’ve designed for yourself and heightens your daily experience.

Embodied branding is branding that positively affects the way you show up. It’s more than pretty or productive, it’s a code of values, beliefs, and commitments that will keep you inspired through your entrepreneurial journey. Our hope is that you will look at your brand identity and be reminded of why you started your business in the first place. On hard days, you will see your logo and be transported back to the set of values you established in the beginning. Or you’ll return to your brand strategy deck and reconnect with your target audience. Your brand should continuously point you back towards the best parts of your vision.

It also brings an added level of depth and realness to your business. Before investing in branding, you may feel like you’re still running a side hustle or a passion project. Branding establishes your business as something more than a fever dream. It becomes a real, tangible, quantitative entity for your clients to interact with.

While there are countless measurable and numerical benefits to branding, we’ve noticed that the feelings of relief and confidence are what our audience remembers most. Their branding gives them a sense of embodied clarity that was otherwise missing from their daily business operations. To us, that feeling is invaluable and more than we could ever measure.

“Before I hired Marbury, I felt extremely overwhelmed. I didn’t know where to begin or what my project would even look like. Just thinking about it made me nervous! Choosing to work with Marbury was exactly what I needed to put me at ease, though. They made the entire rebranding process fun, insightful, and easy—I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Andrea Sordahl, Minnesota Rust

“Marbury’s work is stunning and speaks for itself, but the process of working with them is what makes all the difference. They dive deep, every detail considered, their dedication palpable. I felt truly understood and supported every step of the way. Above all, though, they were gracious and patient while I took us on a few left turns, then magically tied everything together into something beyond my wildest dreams. I’m so grateful for their creativity and the life they’ve breathed into my vision and brand.”

Danée Shows, Veda Coffee

“Working with Marbury was such a positive experience. Their organization and attention to detail kept us on track, and they were patient and open as we waded through navigating the branding of our unborn business. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome; everything is beautiful and just so us!

Emily Fiffer, Botanica Restaurant & Market
